Before we go to far off places to serve, we need to serve our own neighbors. And with the scheduling program that we currently use, you can be the Master of “When” and “How often” you are called upon to serve. If you are a fully-initiated Catholic in a state of grace, you are called to serve as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. If receiving from the cup is meaningful to you, don’t rely on someone else to step forward. IF THE NUMBERS ARE SUFFICIENT, we will then be able to offer the Precious Blood to all, including the young people who will be making their First Communion a few weeks later. The first sessions, at which we will assess the total number of ministers, will be held: Saturday, April 29 at 3:00 PM (before the 4:00 Mass) or Sunday, April 30 at 9:15 AM (between the morning Masses) To that end, we are offering training for first time ministers and REFRESHER training for those dedicated few who currently serve. We could use twice, even THREE TIMES the number that we currently have so that our small number of ministers will not be drafted into service every single weekend! Hardest-hit were the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. ![]() The COVID pandemic and the resulting precautions have decimated the number of liturgical ministers. After an absence of three long years, the Archbishop has given permission to once again offer the common cup of the Precious Blood of Jesus to the congregation at Mass.īut there is a catch–the parish must have a sufficient number of Eucharistic Ministers at each Mass in order to do so. ![]()
